Springtime Reminders: Take Pride In Our Community

Dear Union City Residents,

As the buds bloom and the sun graces us with its warmth, I’m writing to you with a gentle reminder: with spring upon us, let’s take a moment to care for our properties and uphold the beauty of our community. As your Director of Public Safety, it’s essential for me to emphasize the importance of maintaining our homes and neighborhoods, not just for aesthetic reasons, but for the well-being and safety of all.

With that in mind, here are a few key points I’d like to highlight:

1. Tending to Your Property: One of the simplest yet impactful ways to contribute to the beauty of Union City is by ensuring our properties are well-kept. This includes regular grass cutting, picking up trash, and maintaining a clutter-free outdoor space. Let’s aim to keep our lawns neatly trimmed and our surroundings free of debris. Not only does this enhance the visual appeal of our neighborhoods, but it also promotes a sense of pride and respect within the community.

2. Respecting Outdoor Spaces: While it’s tempting to enjoy the fresh air by bringing indoor furniture outside, let’s be mindful of the impact it can have on the appearance of our neighborhoods. Outdoor spaces are best adorned with appropriate outdoor furniture designed to withstand the elements. Let’s work together to preserve the integrity of our outdoor areas and maintain the charm of our streets.

3. Taking Pride in Our Homes: Our homes are more than just structures; they’re reflections of who we are as individuals and as a community. Let’s take pride in our homes by keeping them well-maintained, both inside and out. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint, a well-manicured lawn, or simply keeping things tidy, let’s show our appreciation for our living spaces and contribute to the overall vibrancy of Union City.

4. Looking Out for Our Neighbors: In the spirit of community, I urge each and every one of you to look out for your neighbors. If you notice that a neighbor is struggling to maintain their property due to physical limitations or other challenges, extend a helping hand. Something as simple as offering to mow their lawn or assist with yard work can make a world of difference. Let’s foster a culture of compassion and support within our neighborhoods, where no one feels alone or neglected.

As we embrace the joys of spring, let’s also embrace our responsibility to care for our community. By working together and taking pride in our properties and houses, we can create a Union City that we can all be proud to call home.

Thank you for your attention to these important matters, and here’s to a season filled with warmth, beauty, and neighborly kindness.

Sincerely,

Mark Ater
Director of Public Safety
Union City Police Department
