Viaduct Mural Celebration

This event has ended

Mississinawa Valley Schools Art Club invites you to the unveiling and dedication of the community art mural that will be installed on the viaduct walls at the corner of Route 571 and Deerfield Road.

After many discussions of ow they viewed their community, Mississinawa Valley art students created a community mural.

The mural was digitally created due to COVID-19 and the inability to go directly to the site. However, this did not stop the MV students from creating community art.

Creation of the final mural began in February 2021 and concluded in May.

Art teacher Ashley Austerman, and visiting artist Timothy Wells, guided the students’ drawings into a digital mural.

The hope is for this project to enhance community pride and bring attention to the attributes of Union City.

They will be celebrating the dedication of the mural with free hot dogs, hamburgers, and Kona Ice.

Join them as they welcome this exciting new artwork celebrating our fine community, sponsors, and artists.

The road will be closed off so everyone can enjoy the details of the mural and the incredible artwork the students have created for the community.

Parking will be available.

This project would not have been possible without student contributions, sponsors, as well as a grant awarded from the Ohio Arts Council, which covered the cost of visiting artist Timothy Wells.
